The purpose of GCAN is to raise awareness among interested faculty members about opportunities for engagement and collaboration in campus sustainability activities, events, and research opportunities. Ultimately, the activities of GCAN will promote a greener campus through broader involvement, improved communications and collaboration, and increased connectivity between campus sustainability initiatives and academic, co-curricular, and research programs.
How Does This Network Relate to the 2014 Academic Vision?
“As a great public University, UConn must strive to solve the challenges of our time. We must invest our talents and our ambitions in great endeavors to prepare our students for a rapidly evolving 21st-century economy, expand and develop our areas of interdisciplinary research, and transfer our knowledge and expertise through both local and global engagement and service. We must always work tirelessly to accomplish our mission for the benefit of our state, our nation, and humanity.”
“Through outreach, research, and partnerships, we promote sustainable development and a happy, healthy, and inclusive society. This engagement is local and global, based on intercultural understanding and recognition of the transnational nature of the challenges and opportunities we face.”
