In early 2013, the UConn Board of Trustees adopted a Vendor Code of Conduct which includes strong sections on environmental compliance and environmental sustainability including Principal Expectations regarding Environmental Compliance and Preferential Standards for environmentally sustainable products and services. More information about this Vendor Code of Conduct can be found on the PCCSR website as well as on the Purchasing Department's website.
Also, a new stop on the Campus Visitors' Tour, this campus sustainability wall mural is located near the model dorm room in McMahon Residence Hall. The mural depicts and offers information about campus conservation efforts, green activities, and opportunities for student involvement. To view a PDF of the mural, click here.
Sustainability in the Past
In November 2005, the University of Connecticut participated in the Smart and Sustainable Campuses Conference held at the University of Maryland. Hundreds of industry professionals, university administrators, facilities managers, and environmentally savvy students converged on College Park, Maryland to discuss environmental stewardship in higher education, share success stories, and collaborate on specific initiatives ranging from solid waste management to greenhouse gas emissions reductions.
