Quotations

1st Place Quotation: "Never, no never, did nature say one thing and wisdom say another." - Edmund Burke

Explanation: Wisdom is the ability to judge what is true, right, or lasting and is often considered synonymous with insight. Burke is explaining that nature is wise because everything cycles and nature would never do anything purposefully detrimental, where as people often participate in practices that are harmful and deadly which is completely illogical.

2nd Place Quotation: "We must learn to provide affluence without effluence... by consuming less from the environment, not more. We can use less, and have more. Consume less, and be more. The interests of business and the interests of environment are not incompatible." -Tachi Kiuchi

Explanation: This quote by Tachi Kiuchi reminds one of the importance of sustainable resources. Sustainability does not mean giving up the high quality of life of today- it simply means ensuring a high quality of life for tomorrow. After all, quality of life is far more important the quantity of material possessions. Making beneficial decisions for our environment today will ensure a better future for all.

3rd Place Quotation: "He who knows what sweets and virtues are in the ground, the waters, the plants, the heavens, and how to come at these enchantments, is the rich and royal man." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Explanation: I picked this quote because it simply says that the truly rich people are not those who have money, but those who have the privilege of spending time in nature and who know and respect the wilderness.
